Client requested a pneumatically operated clamping module that would then be attached to a larger assembly. The clamp mechanism was designed to apply a clamping load around the outer mold line (OML) of the device. Additional project requirements called for the addition of lightning holes in order to minimize thermal mass of the clamping hardware and / or decrease thermal conductivity. Thus material selection was critical in achieving all project objectives.
Hardware was prototyped and benchtop tested prior to delivery.
