We are R3 Engineering – a high-performance engineering and prototyping firm based out of the Pacific Northwest, committed to delivering innovative, precision-driven solutions. As a customer-centric, one-stop development shop, we provide turnkey solutions through an open and collaborative workflow.
At R3 Engineering, we deliver innovative engineering and prototyping solutions, driven by technical precision and operational excellence. Specializing in end-to-end consultation and prototyping, we deliver a streamlined workflow from concept to development, combining in house resources, operational efficiency, transparency, and consistent communication to simplify processes and accelerate success. Our expertise spans engineering consultation, product design, reverse engineering, and advanced manufacturing, driven by a relentless commitment to quality and innovation. Embracing failure as a tool for progress, we collaborate closely with clients to create custom solutions that push the boundaries of what’s possible.
R3 Engineering offers consultation expertise through licensed professional engineers, specializing in product design, analysis, and reverse engineering. We consult on projects of any size, new or existing.
Our offerings include product market research, feasibility reports, model development, 3D scanning, inspections, aerial mapping, and photogrammetry — all tailored to ensure your project’s success.
Turning a product vision into reality can be overwhelming without clear direction or the right resources. That’s where R3 comes in.
We’ll collaborate with you to create a project roadmap and provide the resources needed to execute it—whether that’s engineering or manufacturing support (in-house or through our network), component assembly, or prototype testing.
Each engineering project starts by defining the problem—identifying inputs, outputs, boundary conditions, and requirements.
These elements shape our project criteria and guide the development of analytical models to optimize geometry, reduce stress, and meet stiffness needs. Using tools from free body diagrams (FBD) to finite element analysis, we refine your product and bring your idea to life.
Proficient in CAD platforms such as Siemens NX, SolidWorks, OnShape, and Autodesk suite, we focus on creating functional, practical models—avoiding unnecessary embellishments.
The deliverables we provide include part and assembly models, engineering & manufacturing drawings, and bill of materials. Additionally, we offer file conversion and preparation services to meet your project needs.
Our engineers design with every production stage in mind, considering machine envelopes, fabrication sequencing, assembly access, serviceability, and material manufacturability.
What sets us apart is our expertise in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), ensuring accurate fit and form. We also provide tolerance analysis reports for assembly and production models when required.
R3 is your one-stop shop for prototyping and hardware assembly. Equipped with 3D printers and CO2 laser cutters, we enable rapid prototyping to quickly identify and resolve design issues. This ensures that your ideas are transformed into tangible products quickly and efficiently.
Our team provides design and fabrication solutions for sheet metal and composite layups. We process plate steel and aluminum which can then be followed by CNC brake forming to create custom plate assemblies and weldments.
For composite parts like carbon fiber and fiberglass, we design vacuum mold layups tailored to your application, conscious of fiber orientation for optimal load distribution.
R3’s in-house facility includes a 3-axis CNC gantry mill, plasma cutter, and CNC press brake for quick sheet metal processing and light-duty manufacturing.
For more complex parts, we leverage our network of machine shops to provide fast turnaround on parts. This ensures we meet your needs, no matter the complexity.
We at R3 Engineering fundamentally believe that the cornerstone of a great company is respect. Only through an exceptional team is a great company born. A symbiosis is required between patrons, partners and employees alike to form a cohesive working team. To achieve this, respect must be promoted to everyone, with the entire team supporting each other towards a unified goal.
Thus, we do not hold one’s needs or desires above any other. Rather, we strive to ensure all parties’ wishes and ideas shall be heard and respected. No idea is too small, too ambitious, too silly, too stupid. When you work with us, your project becomes our project, and we work in partnership to achieve the end goals.
There is an adage attributed to Albert Einstein that states "insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results". This phrase is the antithesis of what it means to fail fast and fail often.
Failure is guaranteed. It is best to make mistakes early and learn about what is unknown. This is especially true when developing prototypes and working mechanisms. In order to maximize operational efficiency, we believe in developing early models and prototypes and performing experimental testing in efforts to develop the optimal design as quickly as possible.
The phrase “extreme ownership” is a philosophy inspired by military leadership that one must own problems, along with solutions. This guiding principle is at the core of who we are at R3, driving us to approach every challenge with unwavering responsibility and accountability in the relentless pursuit of technical excellence. Here's what it means to us:
